Albania sets the greatest record in Euro history but loses to Italy
In the first game of Group B at Euro 2024, Spain defeated Croatia 3-0. The second game of the same quartet saw reigning European champions Italy and Albania meet.
The favourite in the pairing was obvious, but the start of the game shocked everyone.
Already on the 23rd second due to a gross mistake, Dimarco at touch helped Bajrami to score. This goal became the fastest in the history of the final stages of the European Championships.
However, the intrigue lasted only 11 minutes. Bastoni and Barella quickly scored two goals and put Italy ahead on the scoreboard.
The rest of the game was rather boring: the champions controlled the course of the match and, it seems, were saving their strength for the future. Albania fought bravely, but points are not yet awarded for endeavour in football.
By the way, Italy's next opponent will be Spain. In this game, the two top teams will have to determine the favourite for first place in the group. In the other game, Albania and Croatia will fight to preserve their play-off chances.
