Alajuelense Slams CONCACAF for Backing León, Demands Neutrality
Liga Deportiva Alajuelense issued a strong statement against CONCACAF president, Víctor Montagliani, after he publicly backed Club León following their exclusion from the 2025 Club World Cup.
"He expressed explicit support... disregarding the legal process before the CAS," claimed the Costa Rican club.
Alajuelense, who is vying to take León's place as the two-time champion of the Central American Cup, denounced the lack of neutrality from the regional leadership and emphasized that "the integrity of football cannot be compromised by political or economic considerations."
Additionally, they reaffirmed their trust in the CAS and the principles of sports law, while calling for "fair, integral, and interference-free football."
The controversy remains open as FIFA stands firm on the exclusion of the Mexican club.
