Al Hilal Omdurman lodges a complaint with the Confederation of African Football against referee Abongile Tom
The Sudanese club accuses the South African referee of making controversial decisions during the match against RS Berkane in the CAF Champions League.
Al Hilal believes that Abongile Tom was not impartial during this first leg of the African Champions League quarter-final played on Saturday 14 March 2026. The match ended in a draw (1-1) following a late equaliser by the Moroccan club.
However, Al Hilal Omdurman believes that the South African referee’s decisions influenced the final result in favour of the opposition. Explaining that they had included video evidence of the alleged incidents in their appeal, Al Hilal highlighted four yellow cards shown to their players, a red card for defender Ebuela and a penalty awarded to RS Berkane at key moments of the match.
