Al Hilal dents Rulani Mokwena's MC Alger unbeaten run in their Caf Champions League opening match

Rulani Mokwena’s defence has been breached.

The MC Alger coach’s unbeaten streak has been broken.

Al Hilal beat Mokowena’s Alger 2-1 in their opening Caf Champions League Group D opening match yesterday.

The Sudanese side scored first through Abdelrazig Omer just before half time with a rasping shot from the centre box.

Mustafa Karshoum restored parity for Mokwena’s Alger after the restart as the Algerians started looking like a side on top of Ligue 1 at home.

Alger’s pursuit for a winning goal was deflated in the 75th minute when Mohamed Abdelrahman scored for Hilal to restore his side’s lead in this tie.

This is not a start Mokwena is looking for as he was vocal ahead this match about how a positive start would give them advantage over their fellow group rivals.

That Mamelodi Sundowns and ST Eloi Lupopo play today and a win from either team may further make life difficult for Mokwena’s Alger in this group.

He will be watching this game in South African with keenest of interest.
