Al Ahly Targets Sevilla Striker for Winter Transfer Ahead of FIFA Club World Cup 2025
Reports say that Egypt's big football team, Al Ahly, is talking to Sevilla about possibly signing Nigerian forward Kelechi Iheanacho during this winter transfer window. This is part of the club's plan to make their team stronger for the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.
Al Ahly's sports management, after a request from their head coach Marcel Koller, is looking for a new striker to improve the team's attack for future matches.
Sports journalist Ahmed Shobir has made fans excited by saying that Al Ahly is trying to sign top players with big money, hoping to do well at the Club World Cup. The tournament will have 32 teams, and Al Ahly is in Group A with Inter Miami, Porto, and Palmeiras.
The tournament's opening match will see Al Ahly face off against a star-studded Inter Miami team, including Argentina's Lionel Messi.
According to the English newspaper Daily Express, Al Ahly is currently the top choice to sign Iheanacho. The striker, who used to play for Leicester City, is currently on loan with the possibility of staying longer. Since joining Sevilla in July 2024 after his contract with Leicester City ended, the Nigerian player hasn’t done well. Because of this, Sevilla seems open to letting him leave temporarily.
Iheanacho is having a tough time at Sevilla. Before that, he played for Manchester City between 2015 and 2017. This season, he has not scored or assisted in any of his nine La Liga appearances. However, several clubs from Europe and the United States, including teams from Greece, Turkey and America, are interested in him.
Iheanacho, 28, has played 11 games for Sevilla and scored three goals. According to reports, Al Ahly is looking to sign him during the present winter transfer season.
