Due to a scheduling clash with their Intercontinental Cup travel plans in Qatar, Al Ahly has formally requested the postponement of their first Egyptian League Cup match against Enppi, which was initially set for December 10.

The club is set to face the winner of the Botafogo vs. Pachuca clash in the tournament’s semi-finals on December 14. A statement on Al Ahly’s official website emphasized the importance of their participation in the global event, representing Egyptian and African football on an international stage.

The statement read: “The club has submitted a formal request to the Professional Clubs Association, outlining the exceptional circumstances that necessitate our travel on December 10 to fulfill FIFA commitments for the Intercontinental Cup. This directly conflicts with our first League Cup match.”

Al Ahly reaffirmed their dedication to the Intercontinental Cup as a priority for the season and urged the association to support their bid to reschedule the domestic fixture.

The Red Devils' most recent request is all the more intriguing given that they had not participated in the Egyptian League Cup's first two seasons.
