Al Ahly's preparedness for their pivotal CAF Champions League matchup against the Orlando Pirates on Saturday has been confirmed by Swiss coach Marcel Koller.
The match at Cairo International Stadium will determine the group champion, with Orlando Pirates leading Group C with 11 points, just one point ahead of Al Ahly. The quarterfinals are already guaranteed for both clubs.
Before the game, Koller spoke to the press and admitted that the match would be tough. He said, "Orlando Pirates are a strong team and showed how good they are in the first game. We want to win and take first place, but it won’t be easy."
Even though some players are injured, Koller believes in his team’s ability to adapt. "We have good players who are ready to step in and show what they can do," he said, stressing how important experience and the support of the fans are.
Koller stated unequivocally that this game is too crucial to use an inferior squad. "Winning builds confidence, but we respect our opponents," he said, referring to the team's objective of winning the championship for the third consecutive year. We’re focused on taking one game at a time."
Koller referred to Al Ahly's supporters as the "12th player," and they are anticipated to bring a lot of enthusiasm to the stadium as the squad attempts to finish the group stage with a powerful showing.
