An Egyptian court has made a new decision against Al Ahly player Emam Ashour, giving him a six-month jail sentence after the public prosecution asked for a change in the case. The charges come from an event in June 2024, when Ashour is said to have hurt a security guard, at a mall in Sheikh Zayed district, Giza. This caused the guard to be unable to work for a few days.

During the investigation, Ashour said he was trying to protect his wife, Yasmin Hafez, She told him that some men were bothering her at the mall. Ashour, along with some others, talked to the security people, who he felt were not doing enough to help. He admitted to taking the security guard's phone to look for video of the people who were bothering his wife.

At first, Ashour was not found guilty by a lower court, but now, with this new court decision, he will have to go to jail.
