Al Ahly Comments on Possible Change in Date for 2025 Club World Cup Opener Against Inter Miami
Khaled Mortagy, who is in charge of finances for the Egyptian team Al Ahly, said that there are no "easy" groups in the FIFA Club World Cup. This is because the competition is very important and the teams playing are very good. After the draw on Thursday, Mortagy told reporters, "There is no easy group, especially when you are playing against some of the biggest and most famous clubs in the world."
The official emphasized that every game will be important since even the most formidable teams in international football will be there. Mortagy added that because of the high-profile nature of the match, the FIFA Secretary-General talked about the idea of moving the date of Al Ahly's inaugural game against Inter Miami.
Al Ahly, Porto of Europe, Palmeiras of South America, and Inter Miami of the United States have all been invited to Group A. On June 15, 2025, the team will play its first game, a historic matchup with Lionel Messi's Inter Miami.
The draw ceremony took place in Miami, with Mortagy representing Al Ahly, as club president Mahmoud El Khatib was unable to attend due to health reasons.
