Al Ahly beat Zamalek to win the Cairo Derby
The two rivals faced off on Sunday 11 October at the Cairo International Stadium as part of Matchday 6 of the Egyptian Premier League.
Facing their arch-rivals, Zamalek were unable to break down an effective Al Ahly side. The visitors opened the scoring in the 39th minute through Achraf Bencharki, set up by Mohamed Hany. The two sides went into the break with the Red Devils holding the lead.
In the second half, Al Ahly held onto their lead before sealing the win late on. In the 80th minute, Monsef Bakrar scored his side’s second goal from a decisive pass by Zizo.
Despite Zamalek’s efforts, the score remained unchanged. At the final whistle, Al Ahly secured a 2–0 victory in this Cairo derby, which counted towards Matchday 6 of the Egyptian league.
