Spanish football's second division has been rocked by another terrifying incident on the pitch.

Details: On Saturday, October 31, during the Segunda División clash between Albacete and Sabadell, a horrifying incident unfolded in the 42nd minute. Albacete winger José Corpas attempted an overhead kick but instead struck Sabadell midfielder Quadri Liameed directly in the head. The Nigerian footballer immediately collapsed onto the grass and briefly lost consciousness. Medical teams from both clubs rushed to his aid, while an ambulance entered the pitch at the Carlos Belmonte stadium. The referee showed Corpas a straight red card for the dangerous challenge.

Liameed was transported to hospital for urgent examinations. Fortunately, Sabadell subsequently confirmed that the midfielder had regained consciousness before leaving the stadium. Medical tests produced reassuring results, and the player was discharged from hospital later that evening.

The frightening incident has attracted renewed attention following Tuesday's tragic news from the same division. On November 3, Tenerife announced the death of 30-year-old striker Jesús de Miguel, who had suffered a cardiac arrest following a collision with an opposing goalkeeper during Monday's Segunda División match. Doctors were unable to save the footballer, who died in hospital the following morning.

It is worth noting that Albacete eventually secured a 2-1 victory over Sabadell despite playing with ten men following Corpas's dismissal. Eneko Aguilar scored the visitors' only goal in the 81st minute.
