A crisis shook the foundations of the white castle after the first football team lost by one goal to none against Modern Sport in the ninth round of the Egyptian Premier League, following the insults and curses directed by Mostafa Mila, the club's dressing room member, to the match refereeing crew.

This came after three penalty kicks were not awarded to Zamalek, the most prominent of which was a joint ball between Nabil Emad Donga and Ali Fawzi in the 9th minute, and clash between Seifeddine Jaziri and a modern sport defender in the 11th minute, in addition to the obstruction of Mahmoud Bentayg inside the penalty area in the 61st minute, without referring to video technology.

This prompted the intervention of a number of members of the technical and administrative staff to calm Mila down after the incident, after which Abdel Wahed El Sayed, Zamalek's football director, announced the suspension of Moustafa Mila and his referral to the club's legal affairs for investigation.
