Afraid of a fine? A famous referee spoke out about the scandal in the PSG match
The main figure of the match between PSG and Newcastle (1:1) in the 5th round of the Champions League was the Polish referee, Szymon Marciniak.
In stoppage time, he awarded a penalty against the English, and thanks to this, the French snatched a draw.
The Polish referee's decision caused a lot of negative reaction on social networks.
In particular, former German referee Manuel Graefe spoke about him. He agrees that Livramento did play with his hand in the penalty area, but the ball bounced off his chest and only then hit his hand.
Graefe believes that the assistants should have helped Marciniak understand the situation, but he did not receive the correct interpretation of the episode from them.
"Livramento receives the ball a short distance from his chest. After this, the ball hits a naturally positioned hand, which fits tightly to the body. Either Szymon Marciniak did not see the contact with the chest, or his assistants simply did not prompt him. The referee could have deliberately missed these details due to - for some possible fines,” Graefe wrote on his social networks.
