The Ghana national football team have dismissed their head coach and are now considering appointing an Africa Cup of Nations-winning manager.

Details: Insider Gary Al-Smith reports that Ghana are currently exploring the option of appointing Walid Regragui. Negotiations with the coach are ongoing.

Talks between the two parties are progressing well, with the Ghana Football Association viewing Regragui as their number one candidate and primary target.

50-year-old Otto Addo was dismissed from his position as head coach following a friendly match against Germany national football team.

Addo had taken charge of Ghana in March 2024. During his tenure, he oversaw 34 matches, recording 13 wins, 8 draws, and 13 defeats.

In September 2022, Walid Regragui was appointed head coach of the Morocco national football team just two months before the World Cup in Qatar. He guided the team to a fourth-place finish at that tournament and went on to win the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

Reminder: We previously reported that Senegal national football team were handed a technical defeat in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final, with Morocco national football team officially declared the winners of the tournament.
