AFCON 2027 Qualifier: Egypt Thrash South Sudan 5-0 as Marmoush Scores Twice

Egypt made a strong statement in their AFCON 2027 qualifier campaign after cruising to a convincing 5-0 victory over South Sudan in Juba.

The Pharaohs responded emphatically to their opening 0-0 draw against Angola, producing a dominant performance to claim their first win in Group B.

Egypt broke the deadlock in the 36th minute when Mostafa Zico found the back of the net to give the visitors a 1-0 lead at half-time.

The seven-time African champions stepped up their performance after the break, with Omar Marmoush doubling their advantage in the 49th minute.

Egypt continued to control the game and added a third goal in the 75th minute through substitute Ibrahim Adel.

Marmoush then completed his brace eight minutes later, putting Egypt 4-0 ahead and effectively ending the contest.

There was still time for another substitute, Hamza Abdelkarim, to get on the scoresheet in second-half stoppage time as Egypt completed a commanding 5-0 victory.

The result gives Egypt four points from their opening two AFCON 2027 qualifying matches after their goalless draw against Angola.

South Sudan, meanwhile, are still searching for their first point in the qualifiers. Their heavy home defeat followed a 2-1 loss to Malawi in their opening Group B fixture.
