AFCON 2027 Qualifier: Alexander Djiku Ruled Out of Ghana’s Qualifier Against The Gambia

Ghana will be without experienced defender Alexander Djiku when the Black Stars take on The Gambia in their next 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying match.

Djiku has been ruled out after failing to recover from the injury he picked up during Ghana's opening qualifier against Côte d’Ivoire in Bouaké on Thursday.

The defender was forced to leave the pitch during the 2-0 defeat to the Elephants, with the injury now preventing him from featuring in Tuesday's fixture.

His absence leaves Ghana with a defensive concern as the Black Stars prepare for their first home match of the qualifying campaign.

Ghana will welcome The Gambia to the Accra Sports Stadium on Tuesday, knowing they need a positive result after beginning their AFCON 2027 qualifying campaign with a defeat.
