Further tests have confirmed a moderate knee ligament sprain.

Having sustained an injury on Sunday 7 June during Morocco’s friendly match against Norway, Abde Ezzalzouli’s availability for the World Cup, which kicks off on 11 June, remains uncertain. Whilst doubts over whether he would miss the entire tournament appear to have been dispelled, he will nevertheless be unable to start the competition with the Atlas Lions.

Following further medical examinations which confirmed a moderate knee ligament sprain, he is expected to be sidelined for between two and four weeks. This suggests he is likely to miss the group stage.

Nevertheless, the Atlas Lions’ medical staff have no intention of giving up on the player. They intend to do everything possible to ensure Abde Ezzalzouli is fit to return to action should Morocco progress from the group stage to the round of 32.
