A Sudden Goodbye Shakes Zamalek: José Gomes Departs White Knight with Emotional Farewell Official page of Zamalek Club on Facebook

Portuguese coach José Gomes said he is leaving Egyptian club Zamalek in a heartfelt message on Wednesday. The message, shared by his agent, thanked the club’s fans and the Egyptian people for their support and love. Gomes is now set to start a new journey with Saudi club Al Fateh.

In his message, Gomes wrote: “With a heavy heart and tears in my eyes, I write these words. God gave me the chance to work for Zamalek, meet amazing people, and feel the love of Egypt’s wonderful fans. I am very thankful to the club’s president, Hussein Labib, for this opportunity and have great respect for the players who fought like true champions with me.”

During his time there, Gomes guided Zamalek to great success, winning both the CAF Super Cup and the CAF Confederation Cup." I rejected many offers for the love of Zamalek, but now, I must move on, wishing for better days for this giant club," he said, citing adverse conditions to continue attaining success as the reason for terminating his contract.

Gomes was hired by Zamalek in February, and throughout his brief tenure, he gained a great deal of admiration from supporters. Although his leaving leaves a legacy, it also begs the issue of where the club will go in the future.
