A step down or a new challenge: Axel Disasi could move to Newcastle
The Newcastle coaching staff have set their sights on a new transfer target.
Details: According to insider and journalist Sebastian Vidal, Newcastle's management views 27-year-old Chelsea defender Axel Disasi as a potential solution to bolster their back line after an unsuccessful attempt to sign Giorgio Scalvini.
So far, official negotiations have yet to begin, but during initial enquiries, Newcastle were quoted a fee of 30 million euros.
It is reported that after spending half a season on loan at Aston Villa, Disasi himself stated he wants regular playing time and is therefore open to finding a new club for a permanent move.
Axel Disasi joined Chelsea from French side Monaco for 45 million euros in 2023, but has failed to establish himself as a key first-team player, making just 61 appearances in three years.
