Manchester City are currently competing for all major trophies, and Pep Guardiola not long ago signed a new contract with the club. However, the hierarchy is already planning ahead.
Details: As reported by David Ornstein, Manchester City’s leadership are considering Enzo Maresca for the head coach position. Should Pep Guardiola decide to step down after the 2025/26 season, the Chelsea manager would be the leading candidate to take over.
There is a growing internal sense at Manchester City that this could be Guardiola’s final season at the club. A final decision, however, will be made closer to the end of the campaign.
On 22 November 2024, Guardiola signed a two-year contract extension that will keep him at the Etihad until 2027.
Reminder: After the victory over Everton, Enzo Maresca said that the previous 48 hours had been the toughest of his career at Chelsea. He was later asked again about those comments.
