A record-breaking NBA contract on the horizon. Doncic signs new deal with Lakers
Slovenian basketball sensation Luka Doncic has inked a new deal with the Los Angeles Lakers. The star athlete made the announcement on his social media channels.
"I just signed my extension with the Lakers. Excited to keep working to bring championships to LA and make Laker Nation proud. Grateful to the Lakers, my teammates and all the fans who’ve shown so much love since day one. This is just the beginning," wrote Luka.
Thanks to this deal, the 25-year-old guard will skip the upcoming free agency market and continue to lead the Lakers' charge for Western Conference supremacy. What's more, the timing of this extension sets Doncic up to be eligible for a "supermax" renewal in 2028—a five-year contract worth a staggering $417 million. Should that scenario play out, it would become the most lucrative contract in NBA history.
