The 2016 European champion is preparing for an unexpected career revival across the Atlantic.

Details: Brazilian club Corinthians have stepped up their efforts to sign Portuguese midfielder Renato Sanches, who is currently a free agent. According to Foot Mercato, the São Paulo-based club have sent the 29-year-old an official contract offer and moved into pole position in the race for his signature.

Sanches was previously on the verge of joining Spanish side Getafe, but negotiations hit a dead end due to disagreements over the contract terms. The midfielder has also turned down offers from Saudi Arabia and MLS, showing a clear interest in moving to Brazil’s Série A, where he could link up with Memphis Depay.

In the summer of 2026, the Portuguese midfielder’s contract with PSG officially came to an end. During the 2025/26 season, Sanches played on loan for Greek side Panathinaikos, having previously been sent out on temporary spells by the Parisian club to Roma and Benfica.

It is worth noting that at the dawn of his career in 2016, Renato Sanches became a European champion with Portugal and was named Europe’s best young footballer, earning the Golden Boy award.
