A member of the Zamalek board, Calls for Ban on Players Joining Egypt National Team
Zamalek board member Ahmed Soliman said he will pressure the club to officially stop its key players from joining the Egyptian national team, considering this necessary because these players do not get enough playing time.
Suleiman criticized Egypt's coaching staff for not providing Zamalek players with adequate opportunity after Egypt's 1-1 draw with Botswana in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. He was upset that Zamalek players like Omar Gaber and Hossam Abdelmaguid were not given more opportunities with the national squad in spite of their impressive achievements.
Soliman called for better treatment of his club's players, and criticized the decision to exclude players such as Mohamed Awad, who played a major role in Zamalek's continental victories. He continued: "I will ask the board of directors to prevent Zamalek players from playing for the national team. We have the right to defend our players, even if some foreign professionals refuse to call them up for the national team."
