A legend departs! Kaizer Chiefs say goodbye to a player who never played a single match
The squad overhaul at the club continues.
Details: Bongani Sam has bid farewell to Kaizer Chiefs without ever making an appearance. The club decided to terminate the contract of the player after he suffered a serious injury.
Sam becomes the sixth player to leave the team during this transfer window.
Of all the new signings for the Chiefs, Sam was the only one who never featured in a single match. When the team faced significant issues on the left side of defense, Nasreddine Nabi opted to deploy central defenders Bradley Cross and Aiden McCarthy in that position, clearly indicating that Sam was not in the team's plans.
Sam joined the Chiefs in 2024 from Orlando Pirates, although he spent the season on loan at Moroka Swallows, but even there he couldn't secure a long-term spot.
Bongani's current contract with the Chiefs was valid until 2027 with an option to extend, however, this is now irrelevant as the decision is final.
Reminder: Thibang Phete set to continue his career in South Africa! Who's interested?
