PSG’s goalposts may feature a surprise face in Saturday’s clash against Lorient—a 19-year-old Italian, Renato Marin.
Details: According to RMC Sport, the coaching staff is considering giving their third-choice keeper a start, aiming to rest Matvey Safonov ahead of the crucial Champions League semifinal second leg against Bayern. The situation is further complicated by the injury to Lucas Chevalier, making Marin’s Ligue 1 debut a very real possibility.
PSG head coach Luis Enrique kept the suspense alive at the pre-match press conference, refusing to reveal the starting goalkeeper’s name. The Spanish tactician stressed that modern football demands flexibility and readiness for changes in any position, likening squad selection to a game of Tetris.
According to the coach, the final decision will be made on matchday after assessing the physical condition of key players.
It’s worth noting that this season, the Italian keeper has played only once— in the French Cup, where he kept a clean sheet.
Reminder: PSG striker Gonçalo Ramos may leave the club at the end of the season.
