On Saturday, August 3, the women's tennis final took place at the Paris Olympics.

In the final match, China's Zheng Qinwen faced Croatian Donna Vekić. It was the first Olympic final for both players.

Zheng Qinwen secured a commanding victory in two sets, 6-2, 6-3. The match lasted 1 hour and 46 minutes.

Earlier, the Chinese player sensationally defeated world number one Iga Świątek, ending her winning streak.

Qinwen became the first Chinese tennis player to win Olympic gold in singles. Previously, the best achievement by a Chinese player was a semifinal appearance by Li Na at the 2008 Beijing Games, where she ultimately lost in the bronze medal match.
