A heartfelt farewell! Edson Castillo officially leaves Kaizer Chiefs
Another departure from the Chiefs.
Details: According to the FARPost portal, the 31-year-old Venezuelan midfielder has left Kaizer Chiefs by mutual consent.
The player was left out of the squad that traveled to the Netherlands for a two-week pre-season training camp.
Castillo joined the Chiefs in 2023 from Venezuelan club Monagas as a free agent. During his spell at the club, Edson made 41 appearances, scoring five goals and providing two assists.
Reports suggest that the coaching staff sees no future for the player in the upcoming season and showed him the exit door. The player himself has already begun actively searching for a new club.
Castillo's transfer value is estimated by Transfermarkt at 300,000 euros.
Reminder: Kaizer Chiefs ultimately extended Matlou's contract, despite initial plans to part ways.
