A gesture of nobility. Liverpool will pay Diogo Jota's family his full remaining salary through the end of his contract

English club Liverpool has expressed its deepest condolences following the tragic death of Diogo Jota and has decided not to leave the player's family without support. According to Portuguese outlet Record, the club will continue to pay the late footballer's salary until the end of his current contract — which runs through 2026.
The Portuguese player's family, including his wife and three children, will receive compensation totaling 10 million euros — 5 million for each of the two remaining seasons. This move is a mark of respect from Liverpool towards their player.
As a reminder, Diogo Jota and his brother André tragically lost their lives in a car accident on a highway in Spain's Zamora province. In memory of Jota, the club released an emotional video and set up a memorial site near Anfield stadium, where fans, former teammates, and coaches gather to pay their respects.
