A gem for Arteta! Arsenal signs 16-year-old prodigy
Arsenal continues to assemble the most promising teenage talents in British football.
Details: According to renowned insider Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal have reached an agreement with Cardiff City for the transfer of 16-year-old Axel Donczew. The young footballer has already passed his medical and is set to sign a contract with the London club later this week.
Donczew made history for Cardiff City on October 7, 2025. He came off the bench in an EFL Trophy match against Newport County, becoming the youngest ever first-team player for the club—at just 15 years and 234 days old.
Now, the talented midfielder will continue his development within Arsenal's system. All major formalities have already been completed, so an official announcement about the transfer is expected soon.
It's worth noting that at the end of the 2025/26 season, Donczew shared Cardiff City's academy player of the year award with Robert Tankevich.
Reminder: Arteta is delighted! Arsenal sign Brugge's leader for a hefty sum.
