A former world champion responded to Fury's claim that he defeated Usyk
Recently, Tyson Fury claimed that he defeated Oleksandr Usyk. According to the Gypsy King, he won nine rounds while Usyk won three.
Former world champion Tony Bellew responded to these remarks in The Stomping Ground, stating that he doesn't quite understand Fury's perspective because professional boxing isn't about winning a set number of rounds like in amateur fights.
"If Usyk is an amateur, then he can't win on points? Okay, but this is twelve three-minute rounds, so it's not an amateur bout. There's not much sense in that, but I think Fury put a lot of pressure on Usyk. In my view, Usyk clearly won, but Fury put a lot of pressure on him. Maybe more than anyone in Alexander's career.
Although I don't know. In the second fight with AJ, he put the pressure on him to the limit. After nine rounds, Joshua was ahead by just one point, but then Usyk took the championship rounds. So I don't know. It all depends on how you look at the fight," Bellew commented.
It should be noted that Usyk defeated Fury by split decision in May, with scores of 115-112, 113-114, and 114-113.
The Gypsy King has exercised his right to a mandatory rematch, scheduled for December 21.
Previously, it was reported that the WBC is looking to implement significant rule changes before the rematch between Usyk and Fury.
