Former PSG Coach Leaves Messi Out of His Top Player Choice
The current United States manager, Mauricio Pochettino, caused a stir by declaring that the best footballer he has coached is not Lionel Messi, Neymar, or Mbappé, but Marco Verratti.
“Marco Verratti is the best footballer I have seen in my life,” he said in an interview with Goal.
His statements, according to Infobae, caused immediate reactions in the football world.
Despite having worked with the celebrated trio during his time at PSG, he explained his admiration for the Italian midfielder, whom he considered a complete, intelligent, and decisive player in the game. Nevertheless, he did not hold back in praising the other three:
"Neymar is a magician, Mbappé is a killer, and Messi is a genius," he clarified.
These statements come amidst a critical moment for the coach, following a disappointing performance by his team in the Nations League.
