England's national team capped off their 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign with an away victory over Albania. The outcome was decided by a second-half brace from Harry Kane.
Remarkably, the Bayern Munich striker has now scored 40 goals in qualifying matches for major tournaments (World Cup and European Championships) since the start of Euro 2020 qualification in 2019. Among European players, only Cristiano Ronaldo comes close, with 32 goals to his name.
It’s worth highlighting that England won all eight matches in their qualifying group. Under Thomas Tuchel, the Three Lions scored 22 goals and did not concede a single one—a record-setting feat. No European team had ever achieved such a run in qualifiers before.
