Reports indicate that after Chiesa was called up to the squad, he underwent a medical examination, which clearly showed that he currently has health issues and would not be ready for the match, which is just three days away.
In Chiesa's place, "Squadra Azzurra" head coach Gennaro Gattuso has called up Bologna forward Nicolo Cambiaghi.
Chiesa last appeared for the Italian national team in June 2024 against Switzerland. Since then, the winger has received several call-ups but has declined each time due to personal reasons.
