A conflict erupts between the heads of La Liga and the Argentine Football Association. The reason is revealed
La Liga president Javier Tebas has ignited a heated debate within Argentine football after stating that it saddens him to see a country with such a rich footballing heritage and incredible passion lacking clubs capable of becoming a global powerhouse at club level.
Details: Tebas emphasized that while Argentina has always produced outstanding players and legendary national teams, its clubs, in his view, lack the resources and management to consistently compete with Europe's top sides.
Argentine FA president Claudio Tapia was quick to respond. He asserted that such remarks only apply to those unfamiliar with the history of Argentine football. According to Tapia, to underestimate Argentine clubs is to "ignore their tremendous contribution to the development of world football."
Tapia reminded everyone that Argentine clubs are among the most decorated in South America, and their player development system is regarded as one of the best in the world, regularly producing stars for top leagues.
Reminder: Spain’s sports court has opened an investigation into La Liga president Javier Tebas.
