A Comeback in the Making? Hany Abo Rida’s Candidacy for Egypt FA Presidency
Hany Abo Rida, the member of the executive boards of FIFA and CAF, has officially submitted his candidacy for the presidency of the Egyptian Football Association (EFA). According to an announcement from the EFA on the "X" platform, Abo Rida’s candidacy includes a team with Khaled El Darandaly as vice president, and members Ahmed Helmy Sherif, Mohamed El Sherbiny, Walid Omar, Mostafa Abo Zehra, Tarek Abo El Einain, Mohamed Abo Hussein, and Inas Mazhar.
The EFA further noted that the list includes reserve candidates, specifically Ashraf Mohamed Mousa, James Hanna, and Hayam Baraka. The nomination period opened this past Sunday, with the elections set for December 10.
Abo Rida previously led the EFA for one term from 2016 to 2019, and his return to the leadership could mark a new phase for Egyptian football, focusing on experience and strong international connections.
