A chance at salvation? Rob Edwards to take charge of Championship strugglers
Burnley’s management has quickly begun the search for a new head coach following Nicky Hayen’s dismissal.
Details: The Belgian coach left his post after just three months at the club following a heavy 4-1 defeat to Lincoln City, which left the team in the Championship relegation zone. According to TEAMTalk, Rob Edwards is currently the leading candidate for the vacant position, with the club already holding official negotiations with him.

In addition to Edwards, the Clarets’ shortlist includes Carlos Corberán and Steve Cooper, both of whom have extensive experience in English football and could help stabilize the team’s results during this difficult period.
Burnley have already played 12 matches in the 2026/27 season, collecting just eight points. For a team that only recently competed in the Premier League, such a start has come as a bitter and unexpected surprise.
