A celebration for the city: how fourth-division Barbastro marked their victory over Espanyol

Yesterday, Spanish fourth-division club Barbastro pulled off a sensational 2-0 victory against Espanyol in the Round of 64 of the Copa del Rey. Footage of the team’s celebrations has since gone viral online.

Details: On their official X account, Barbastro shared a video of their players celebrating with fans after the historic win.

During the broadcast, a Barbastro supporter was also caught on camera flipping off Espanyol players during the celebration of the team’s second goal.

According to tournament regulations, Barbastro will face one of the Supercopa contenders—Barcelona, Real Madrid, Athletic Bilbao, or Mallorca—in the next round.

Last season, Barbastro stunned Almería in the Copa del Rey, but narrowly lost to Barcelona 3-2 in the subsequent round.

Interestingly, Barbastro has struggled in their league campaign, sitting second-to-last in the standings with just 10 points from 14 matches.

Reminder: Yesterday, Barcelona crushed Mallorca in La Liga, and Lamine Yamal revealed the secret behind his assists.
