Fans are convinced their team is cursed.

Details: Today, in the 5th round of the Europa League group stage, French side Nice suffered a crushing 3-0 defeat to Portugal's Porto, dropping to the bottom of the group standings.

But that's not the only bad news for Nice. This latest loss extended their winless streak in European competitions to 17 matches. It all began on April 13, 2023, in Switzerland, where Nice drew 2-2 with local side Basel. Since that draw, the French team hasn't managed a single European victory.

Over the course of these European campaigns, Nice's results have been as follows:

  • FC Porto (3-0).
  • Fribourg (3-1).
  • Celta Vigo (2-1).
  • Fenerbahçe (2-1).
  • AS Roma (1-2).
  • Benfica (2-0).
  • Benfica (0-2).
  • Bodo/Glimt (1-1).
  • Elfsborg (1-0).
  • Union SG (2-1).
  • Rangers (1-4).
  • Twente (2-2).
  • Ferencvaros (1-0).
  • Lazio (4-1).
  • Real Sociedad (1-1).
  • FC Bâle (1-2).
  • FC Bâle (2-2).

Nice's next European fixture will be in the Europa League on December 11 against Portugal's Braga at home. Supporters of the French club are hopeful the curse will finally be broken and the team will have something to celebrate.

Reminder: What a flare-up! A scuffle breaks out between Nice and Marseille players
