France national team defender Maxence Lacroix has decided to delight the residents of his hometown village during the 2026 World Cup.
Details: The 26-year-old footballer will pay for pizza for fans gathering to watch France's national team matches together in the commune of Ajat.
This World Cup is Lacroix's first in his career. Although the footballer was born near Paris, he spent his childhood in Ajat - a small village in the Dordogne region with a population of around 300.
During France's matches, local residents gather at the village community center, where collective viewings of the games are organized. Now, these evenings will have an extra special touch—a treat from the national team player himself.
According to the mayor of the commune, the initiative came directly from Lacroix. The footballer passed on his proposal through his mother, expressing his desire to treat the locals to pizza during every match of the French team.
In this way, the defender has shown that he hasn't forgotten the place where he grew up and remains closely connected to his hometown village, even while taking part in the biggest tournament of his career.
Reminder: Earlier, we reported that France's lineup for the match against Senegal became the most expensive in World Cup history.
