Toronto Raptors player Jontay Porter has been issued a lifetime ban from the NBA for violating NBA rules, as reported by journalist Shams Charania.

The reason for this decision is that the basketball player was under investigation by the NBA for potential betting violations. It involves bets placed on two games in which the player participated between January 26 and March 20.

The bookmaker DraftKings noticed an unusual interest in bets on Porter's performance in these matches. Those who bet on his statistics received the highest winnings of the NBA game day.

It's worth noting that the last time an NBA player received a lifetime ban was eight years ago. In 2016, O.J. Mayo was banned for drug use.

Additionally, Golden State point guard Chris Paul will miss the NBA playoffs for the first time in 14 years. Golden State lost to Sacramento (94:118) in the play-in game and ended the season.
