Soon, on August 17, the match for the German Super Cup will take place, in which Bayer Leverkusen will face Stuttgart.

According to Bild, this game will feature a ball equipped with new technology - the Connected Ball, previously used at Euro 2024. This technology involves a sensor embedded in the ball that provides highly accurate data on speed, trajectory, and touches. This will further refine the detection of offsides and handball offenses.

Moreover, if the experiment proves successful in the German Super Cup match of 2024, the Connected Ball technology will be actively implemented in Bundesliga matches starting from the 2025/26 season.

Additionally, Bayer Leverkusen has strengthened its squad with the acquisition of French forward Martin Terrier from Rennes. The 27-year-old player has signed a five-year contract with the German club, extending until June 30, 2029.

As a reminder, the top Swedish league Allsvenskan officially rejected the introduction of VAR. All 16 clubs in Allsvenskan voted against it, along with two clubs from the second division.
