The video assistant referee (VAR) technology, which helps referees make correct decisions, has become so familiar in modern football that it's hard to remember a time when things were different.

However, one only needs to tune into matches of the Swedish top league, Allsvenskan, which officially decided against implementing VAR.

As reported by Sportbladet, all 16 clubs in Allsvenskan voted against VAR, as well as 2 clubs from the second division.

Swedish fans were also actively against VAR, displaying banners urging the league to abandon the idea.

Thus, the Swedish league remains the only one among UEFA's top 30 leagues that still doesn't use VAR.

The VAR system was first introduced at a top tournament in 2018 during the World Cup. Since then, it has been used in all top leagues and European cup matches.
