Details: According to Mundo Deportivo, Real Madrid are exploring a summer transfer for Arsenal midfielder Martin Zubimendi. The Spanish giants were interested in Zubimendi last summer when he was still at Real Sociedad, but at that time, the player had already agreed to join Arsenal.
The situation changed after Arsenal signed Bruno Guimarães. With increased competition in central midfield, Zubimendi’s future in London has become less certain, giving Real Madrid an opening to reignite their pursuit.
However, the potential deal is shaping up to be extremely complicated. Reports suggest Arsenal are unwilling to let the 27-year-old Spaniard leave for anything less than €90 million. On top of that, Chelsea have shown serious interest in the midfielder, with Xabi Alonso keen to bring him in. It was Alonso who pushed for Zubimendi’s signing at Real last year when he was part of the Madrid setup.
It’s worth noting that last season Zubimendi scored 5 goals and delivered 1 assist in the Premier League, playing a crucial role in Arsenal’s title-winning campaign.
