533 days without defeat! Declan Rice rescues Arsenal's incredible Champions League streak
Declan Rice simply refuses to let Arsenal's extraordinary Champions League streak come to an end.
Details: Arsenal have now gone an astonishing 533 days without losing a Champions League match in regular or extra time. Their incredible unbeaten run was on the verge of collapsing against Bayern Munich on October 21, but Declan Rice came to the rescue. Trailing 2-1 at the Allianz Arena, the Gunners found their salvation in the 82nd minute when the England international combined with Viktor Gyökeres before firing a brilliant shot past Manuel Neuer to secure a dramatic 2-2 draw.
The match had initially started perfectly for Mikel Arteta's side. Eberechi Eze, who replaced the injured Bukayo Saka early in the encounter, opened the scoring in the 25th minute. However, Alphonso Davies equalised just ten minutes later, before Harry Kane converted a penalty in the 61st minute to put Bayern ahead.
For several minutes, Arsenal appeared destined to suffer their first Champions League defeat in open play since May 7, 2025, when Paris Saint-Germain beat them 2-1 in the semi-finals. However, Rice's late intervention ensured the streak survived. As of October 22, exactly 533 days have passed since that defeat.
Interestingly, Arsenal were beaten by PSG on penalties in the 2026 Champions League final, but that match finished 1-1 after extra time. Therefore, their unbeaten streak in match play remains intact despite losing the trophy.
It's worth noting that, according to Opta, Rice's strike against Bayern was his sixth Champions League goal and his first ever scored away from home in the competition.
