€50m may not be enough! Chelsea eye a blockbuster January raid on Barcelona
Chelsea are preparing for the January transfer window, and one of Barcelona's stars has caught their attention.
Details: According to renowned insider Matteo Moretto, Chelsea have been studying the financial conditions of a potential transfer for Barcelona defender Jules Koundé. The London club have made enquiries and are assessing the cost of bringing the 27-year-old Frenchman to England during the winter transfer window. Several other Premier League clubs are also closely monitoring the player's situation.
However, signing Koundé will not come cheap. According to Moretto's assessment, Barcelona would demand more than €50 million to consider selling the defender. This figure is not an officially established asking price, and no agreement between the clubs has been reported.
The Frenchman's future has become a subject of speculation amid his reduced role in Hansi Flick's team. Eric García has emerged as a serious competitor for the right-back position, while Koundé also faces competition for playing time in central defence.
Chelsea are already familiar with the player, having previously attempted to sign him before his move from Sevilla to Barcelona in 2022. Now, the Londoners are once again exploring the possibility of securing his services.
It's worth noting that Koundé signed a new contract with Barcelona in August 2025, extending his agreement until June 2030. The Catalan club officially confirmed the deal, meaning any potential January departure would require negotiations between the two sides.
Reminder: Everything will be decided in January. Manchester United are targeting Barcelona star
