Manchester United are already preparing for a possible change in the dugout.

Details: According to Daily Mail journalist Chris Wheeler, Manchester United have drawn up a five-man shortlist of candidates who could replace Michael Carrick if the club decides to part ways with the current head coach.

The list includes two experienced title-winning coaches, two British managers familiar with English football and one of the Premier League's most highly rated young specialists.

  • Eddie Howe
  • Kieran McKenna
  • Antonio Conte
  • Fabian Hürzeler
  • Julian Nagelsmann

Hürzeler is known to have admirers at Old Trafford, although taking him away from Brighton could prove expensive after the German signed a new contract in June. Howe and McKenna are also among the British options being considered, while Conte and Nagelsmann are available without United having to negotiate compensation with another club.

For now, no official decision has been announced regarding Carrick's future. The Englishman remains Manchester United's head coach and is expected to be in charge when the Red Devils host Bournemouth in the Premier League.

It is worth noting that Manchester United were beaten 4-1 by Como in the Champions League on October 21. That defeat extended Carrick's side's winless run across all competitions to seven consecutive matches.
