FC Barcelona Femení secured yet another league title this season, but it will also mark the departure of one of the most iconic figures in the club’s history.
Details: According to an official statement from Barcelona’s women’s team, legendary footballer Alexia Putellas is leaving the club. She spent 14 seasons with the Catalan giants, winning an extraordinary 38 titles with Barcelona.
Putellas also scored 232 goals for the club — an all-time record — while lifting 38 trophies during her historic spell.
She was named the world’s best female footballer by FIFA in both 2021 and 2022, while also claiming the prestigious Ballon d'Or in those same years.
In 2023, she added another remarkable achievement to her career by winning the FIFA Women's World Cup with the Spain women's national football team.
