2027 transfer bombshell! Chelsea target Premier League star, but face a major obstacle
Chelsea are preparing another defensive reinforcement, but Everton have no intention of making things easy.
Details: According to journalist Pete O'Rourke of Football Insider, Chelsea are interested in signing Everton centre-back Jarrad Branthwaite. The London club are planning to strengthen their defence in 2027, with the 24-year-old England international among their potential targets.

However, Chelsea are not the only club monitoring the defender. Manchester United remain interested in Branthwaite, while several clubs from overseas are also keeping a close eye on his situation.
The Englishman has impressed at the start of the current Premier League season after an injury-hit 2025/26 campaign. His performances also earned him a return to the England national team in September.
Everton, meanwhile, have taken a firm stance regarding their key defender. The Merseyside club have no intention of making Branthwaite available for transfer and are determined to keep him for as long as possible.
Chelsea have admired Branthwaite for some time, while Manchester United previously attempted to sign him but saw their offers rejected. The growing interest has not changed Everton's position.
It's worth noting that Branthwaite signed a new five-year contract with Everton in July 2025, keeping him at the club until June 2030. According to earlier reports from Football Insider, Everton value the defender at around £80 million.
