2027 AFCON Qualifiers: Omar Artan appointed referee for the Burkina Faso v Benin match

The Confederation of African Football has appointed the referee who will take charge of the match between Burkina Faso and Benin, which forms part of the first matchday of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

The match, due to take place on 25 September at the Stade du 4-Août in Ouagadougou, will be refereed by Omar Artan from Somalia. The Somali referee is well known on the African scene and has extensive experience at international level.

Omar Artan recently refereed the UEFA Super Cup between Paris Saint-Germain and Aston Villa. This adds to a number of international fixtures he has officiated throughout his career.

The Somali referee will therefore be in charge of the match between the Stallions and the Cheetahs as they kick off their campaign in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
