On Thursday, May 28, all quarter-final matches of the 2026 Ice Hockey World Championship were played, and the names of the semi-finalists are now confirmed.
Details: In the opening quarter-final, Finland defeated the Czech Republic 4-1, while Canada comfortably shut out the USA with a dominant 4-0 victory. In another matchup, Norway overcame Latvia 2-0, and tournament hosts Switzerland beat Sweden 3-1.
As a result, the following semi-final clashes await us:
- Canada vs Finland
- Switzerland vs Norway
Both matches will take place on Saturday, May 30. The winners will advance to the gold medal game, while the losing teams will meet in the bronze medal match.
As a reminder: The Swiss ice hockey world has been rocked by a sensational resignation. The country’s ice hockey federation has officially parted ways with national team head coach Patrick Fischer over a medical certificate.
